Kinnected Community Standards
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Kinnected is a private space for sharing photos with the people you actually know. These Community Standards explain what we expect from everyone who uses Kinnected and what we do when those expectations aren't met.
These Standards apply to all users, all content and all activity on Kinnected, wherever you are. They form part of our Terms of Service / EULA and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. Depending on where you live, local laws may give you additional rights.
Who can use Kinnected
Kinnected is intended only for people aged 16 and over. Accounts that we believe belong to someone under 16 will be removed.
If you are under 18 and anything on this page is unclear, please talk to a parent, carer or another trusted adult before using Kinnected. You can also email us at safety@kinnected.app.
Our commitments
Safety. We act quickly on anything that puts people at risk, and we treat the protection of children as our highest priority.
Privacy. The photos and personal details you share are meant for your Kin only, and we expect everyone to respect that.
Respect. We expect people to treat each other kindly and we act against harassment, hate and abuse.
Authenticity. People should be who they say they are, so you can trust the Kin you connect with.
Fairness. We apply these Standards consistently, explain our decisions where we can, and give people a way to ask us to review previous decisions that were made.
How Kinnected is designed to limit harm
Mutual Kin only. Users can only see or share content with people they have added who have also added them back.
No public posting. Content cannot be made publicly visible.
No contact with strangers. There is no messaging, and users cannot contact anyone who isn't a mutual Kin.
Comments. Only approved mutual Kin can comment on a user's content.
Blocking. Users can block anyone. A blocked user's comments are removed from the blocker's view.
Child safety standards (CSAE)
Kinnected has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This applies to all users, content and activity on Kinnected. For these Standards, a child or minor is anyone under 18.
The following are strictly prohibited:
Creating, uploading, sharing, requesting or linking to child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated, drawn or altered imagery
Sexualising minors in any way, including in photos, videos or comments
Grooming, meaning building a relationship with a minor in order to sexually abuse or exploit them, online or offline
Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate images of a minor
Trafficking or soliciting a minor for sexual purposes
Content that normalises, jokes about or makes light of the sexual abuse of children
Any other content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers children
Any confirmed breach of this section results in immediate removal of the content and a permanent ban, even on a first occurrence. See Law enforcement for how we report CSAM.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services first.
Other prohibited content and behaviour
The rules below apply to photos, videos, captions, comments, profile information and any other content on Kinnected. The examples in each section are not a complete list.
1. Harassment and bullying
Everyone should feel comfortable sharing their moments with friends and family. We don't allow behaviour aimed at intimidating, humiliating, threatening or tormenting another person.

Not allowed:
Encouraging, instructing or challenging anyone to harm themselves or end their life
Content that glorifies or promotes self-harm, suicide or extreme dieting and disordered eating
If you are struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a local support service. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services.

Nudity or sexually explicit content
Sharing, or threatening to share, intimate images of anyone without their consent
Using intimate images to pressure, blackmail or extort anyone (sextortion)

Buying, selling, offering or promoting illegal drugs, misused prescription medicines, weapons, or age-restricted goods such as alcohol and tobacco

Because Kinnected is a photo sharing app, respecting other people's images matters.
Not allowed:
Posting photos of people in private settings (such as bathrooms or bedrooms) without their consent
Covertly photographing or recording people in a way that invades their privacy
Re-sharing content outside Kinnected to embarrass or harm the person shown
If you’re shown in a photo or video and want it removed, ask the person who posted it, or report it.

Not allowed:
Posting other people's photos, artwork or other copyrighted material without permission
Using a brand's name or logo in a way that suggests a connection that doesn't exist
If you believe content on Kinnected infringes your rights, email safety@kinnected.app with details of your work and the content concerned.
12. Other illegal or harmful activity
We may also act against content or behaviour not listed above if it breaks the law, puts people at risk, or threatens the security of Kinnected or its users. If we do, we will explain which conduct we relied on.
Reporting
Users can report another user or their content in the app by going to that user's profile, tapping the ellipsis (⋯) at the top right, and tapping Report. You will then be asked to choose a category for your report. "Child exploitation or abuse" is a dedicated report category. When you report a user, you will receive confirmation that the report has been submitted.
We never tell the reported user who reported them, and we don't share the reporter's name, username or any other identifying details. The reported user may be told that their content was removed or their account was actioned for breaking our Standards, but not who reported it. We may share report details with law enforcement or child protection authorities where required by law or where we believe a child may be at risk.
People without a Kinnected account can report concerns by emailing safety@kinnected.app. When reporting by email, please explain what the content is, why you think it breaks these Standards or the law, and include the username of the account involved if you know it.
We review every report we receive. To protect the privacy of everyone involved, we don't usually send updates on the outcome of individual reports.
If you or anyone else is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services first.
How we review and enforce
Every report is reviewed by a member of the Kinnected team. Child safety reports are prioritised above all others. We assess content against these Standards and applicable law, and we aim to act fairly and proportionately.
Depending on how serious the breach is, and whether it has happened before, we may:
Remove the content
Issue a warning
Temporarily restrict or suspend the account
Permanently ban the account
Preserve relevant information and refer the matter to the authorities
When we act on your content or account, we will tell you what action we took, which part of these Standards (or which law) it was based on, and how you can appeal. The only exception is where telling you could put someone at risk or interfere with a law enforcement investigation.
Repeated breaches lead to stronger action. Serious breaches, including any breach of our Child safety standards, credible threats of violence, and sharing intimate images without consent, result in immediate and permanent removal of the account, even on a first occurrence. People who have been permanently banned may not create a new account.
If we find content or behaviour that breaks our child safety standards, we will:
Remove the content immediately
Permanently ban the account responsible
Preserve relevant information as required by law to support any investigation
Report it to the relevant authorities (see Law enforcement)
Appeals
If you think we made a mistake in removing your content or taking action against your account, you can ask us to review the decision. Email safety@kinnected.app with the subject line "Appeal", and include your username and a short explanation of why you think the decision was wrong.
Where possible, appeals are reviewed by someone who was not involved in the original decision. We will let you know the outcome by email. Decisions involving confirmed child sexual abuse material are final.
Nothing in these Standards affects any legal rights you have to challenge a decision under the laws where you live.
Law enforcement
Kinnected is available to users around the world. We report all confirmed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) to the appropriate authorities, in line with the laws that apply to us. Depending on where the content or the people involved are located, this includes:
Canada: the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (Cybertip.ca) and law enforcement, as required by Canada's mandatory reporting law
United Kingdom: the National Crime Agency (NCA), as required by the Online Safety Act 2023
United States and internationally: the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline
European Union and elsewhere: the relevant national police or child protection authority
We preserve relevant information as required by law to support investigations. We comply with applicable child safety laws and cooperate with valid law enforcement requests.
Where we become aware of content suggesting that someone's life or safety is at risk, we may also share information with the relevant authorities.
